Accessibility Statement

Last updated

We want everyone to be able to use fintrix.so, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement explains the standard we work to, what we have done to meet it, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us about a problem.

Our commitment

We aim for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, speech, cognitive and neurological disabilities.

We treat accessibility as part of building the website, not as a check at the end. New pages and features are designed and tested against WCAG 2.2 AA before they are published.

Conformance status

We believe this website partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conforms" means that most of the website meets the standard, but some content may not yet fully conform. The known gaps are listed in Known limitations.

What we have done

Structure and navigation

  • Each page has one main heading, a logical heading order and labelled landmarks (header, navigation, main content and footer), so screen reader users can move around quickly.
  • A "Skip to content" link is the first item on every page.
  • Long pages, such as articles and these legal pages, include a table of contents.

Keyboard and focus

  • Everything you can click or tap can also be reached and used with a keyboard, in a logical order.
  • Focus is always clearly visible, with a high-contrast outline, and is never hidden behind the sticky navigation bar.
  • The mobile menu traps focus only while it is open, closes with the Escape key and returns focus to the menu button.

Visual design

  • Text meets WCAG contrast requirements, including text on coloured buttons, pastel cards and dark sections.
  • Pages can be zoomed to 200% and reflow to a narrow, single-column layout without loss of content or sideways scrolling.
  • Buttons and links have targets of at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels.
  • We never use colour alone to convey meaning, for example in form errors.

Motion

  • If you have asked your device to reduce motion, the website turns off animations such as scrolling text, stacking cards, counting numbers and smooth scrolling, and shows content in its final state.
  • No content moves automatically for more than five seconds without a way to pause it.
  • Content never depends on animation or JavaScript to appear.

Forms

  • Every form field has a visible label, and required fields are marked.
  • Errors are described in text, linked to the field they relate to and summarised at the top of the form, and focus moves to the summary so screen reader users hear it.
  • Form status messages, such as "sending" and "sent", are announced to assistive technology.

Images and visuals

  • Informative images and diagrams have text alternatives. Purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.

How we test

We check the website using a combination of:

  • automated testing with axe-core on every page;
  • Lighthouse accessibility audits;
  • keyboard-only walkthroughs of every page;
  • screen reader testing with VoiceOver on Safari and NVDA on Firefox, focusing on the navigation, mobile menu, accordions, FAQs, forms and the cookie banner;
  • manual checks of zoom, text resizing, reflow, colour contrast and reduced motion.

Our most recent review was an internal self-assessment. We have not yet had the website independently audited.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Code samples in articles. Some longer code samples scroll sideways on small screens rather than wrapping, because wrapping would change the meaning of the code. Each code block can be reached and scrolled with the keyboard.
  • Complex diagrams. Some architecture diagrams carry more detail than a short text alternative can describe. Where this is the case, the surrounding text explains the key points. If you need a fuller description of any diagram, contact us and we will provide one.
  • Third-party pages. If you submit the contact form without JavaScript, you will see a confirmation page hosted by our form processor. Links to social networks and other external websites also take you to pages we do not control. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of those pages.
  • Older content. As we add new articles and case studies, we review them against WCAG 2.2 AA before publishing. If you find content that falls short, please tell us.

We are working to fix issues as we find them. If you are affected by any of these, please contact us and we will provide the information in another way.

Compatibility

The website is designed to work with:

  • recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop;
  • Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android;
  • screen readers including VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), NVDA and JAWS (Windows) and TalkBack (Android);
  • browser zoom, operating-system text-size settings, high-contrast modes and reduced-motion settings.

The website is built with standard, semantic HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript. The core content and navigation work without JavaScript. Very old browsers may not display every visual detail, but the content remains available.

Feedback and contact

If you have difficulty using any part of this website, or you need information in a different format, please email hello@fintrix.so with "Accessibility" in the subject line.

It helps us if you tell us:

  • the web address (URL) of the page;
  • what you were trying to do and what went wrong;
  • the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using.

We will acknowledge your message within two working days and aim to reply in full, or fix the problem, within ten working days. If a fix will take longer, we will tell you when to expect it and, in the meantime, give you the information you need in another way.

If you need an adjustment when applying for a job with us, see our Careers page or mention it in your email to careers@fintrix.so.
